Customer's Guide to Landscape Construction

We welcome you as a new landscape customer at ARTISTIC LANDSCAPE DESIGNS. With this guide we hope to clarify the process you are about to witness in advance. Please call your contact person if you have further concerns.

Please Note, our Landscaping Services Presently are only available in Ontario

STAGE ONE: HARD SURFACES

Now that you have received your landscape quote and have reviewed it with your consultant only a short wait is expected before the arrival of the first team of specialists. The first team on site is likely the Stonemasons. At the time of their arrival or by prior arrangement you will be briefed on the exact location and scope of this segment of your program. This program may include any excavations, base work and stonework called for in your contract. Mostly your consultant will stripe the shape and location with bright fluorescent spray paint onto the ground in the actual places where the stonemasons will then start to dig. Preferably changes should be made, if any, at this crucial time and definitely BEFORE any concrete is installed. Now that you have received your landscape quote and have reviewed it with your consultant only a short wait is expected before the arrival of the first team of specialists. Alternately, any wood work is also finished at this stage, before or after stonework depending on design.

STAGE TWO: CLEANUP AND BED PREPARATION

This step follows stonework or may be independent of stonework. The work program is carried out by the Contour crew directly after the Stone crew has departed.

This program can include removal of stone debris, unwanted plant material, grading, sodding all bed preparations, pathways, water runs and miscellaneous preparations before actual plant installations ie; large boulders, large trees fences, arches. Collaboration with the client may be varied and may be decided by phone contact or on site as necessary to clarify bed lines and lawn areas (usually we stripe them with bright spray paint). Site is left clean for the next group - the Planting crew. Sometimes, if the area is small, contouring and planting is performed together. During this stage please submit a wish list of plant material (or a dislike list) DO NOT WORRY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A WISH LIST!

STAGE THREE: PLANTING AND FINISHING TOUCHES

A sketch will be drawn at this stage and you will be called and invited in to view the selection by appointment. At this point you may like or dislike and make any necessary substitutions (suitable alternatives will be suggested to suit your given conditions) and you may discover on your tour, plants you would like to have used (if appropriate ). After this meeting your plants will be assembled and shipped and placed by a designer or very knowledgeable planter, then installed, staked and mulched (as per contract) and edged. Any remaining details should be completed at this time. Plants are labeled for your convenience to allow you to learn their names and check for care in our catalogue.

IF YOU HAVE NOT RECEIVED A CATALOGUE ALONG THE WAY, PLEASE ASK - WE ARE HAPPY TO PROVIDE YOU WITH ONE!
